Definition: A PDF reader is a computer program designed to open portable document files (PDF). There are many programs (free or commercial) available for reading PDF documents, but the most common used one is Adobe Reader (free PDF reader). Other popular applications used for opening PDF files are Foxit reader, GSview, Sumatra PDF. Some PDF readers, beside the main functionality of opening and displaying a PDF, also offer features such as: searching for text inside the PDF, digitally signing the PDF file, verifying the PDF, printing the PDF (to a regular printer) and eventually allowing different users to collaborate on the same PDF file.
